The Coat of Arms shows above, commonly known as “Logo”, was adopted in the year 1957, the centenary year of the University.

 

The following symbols are included in it:-

  • Rajabai Clock Tower
  • An open book as a symbol of learning
  • Steamships to represent Mumbai as a port
  • Wheels and chimneys to represent Mumbai as a centre of commerce & industry.

The correct English translation of the motto “SaIlavaR<aflaa ivaVa” included in the shield is “The Fruit of Learning is Character and Righteous Conduct".
